Mercury is retrograde again for the next 3 weeks. We are required to be more patient and methodical in our thinking and communication especially as Mercury retrogrades in Capricorn. Take time to check things out and do your homework when it comes to any important contracts and documentation. Things are likely to be delayed and this may be frustrating, but it could be beneficial in the long run. Don’t rush into any important debates and or discussions without being prepared.

Gadgets are likely to break down and it may take time to get them repaired. People and businesses are on holiday and or closed for a well-deserved break.

As always back up computers and phones. Double check bookings and travel arrangements. Delays are likely. We may all need to be more patient with those we engage with day to day.

Xi Jinping, 15 June 1953, Beijing, China

All three of these leaders were born with Saturn conjunct Neptune. It is a 35/36 year cycle.

Saturn and Neptune were conjunct in 1917. During this period, the Russian Revolution marked the abolishment of the Russian monarchy in 1917. When the Russian monarchy was overthrown, a new system of governance started that led to communism. The USSR became engaged in World War I on 4 April 1917.

The next conjunction between these 2 planets was 1952/1953 when these leaders were born. Joseph Stalin died on 5 March 1953. This ended his long reign as leader of the Soviet Union from 1924 until his death in 1953.

These planets joined again in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the eventual collapse of communism in Russia. In China during this period, the student led Tiananmen Square protests were held. These demonstrations called for democracy, free speech and a free press in China. The protests were halted with in a deadly crackdown, known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, by the Chinese government on 4th and 5th June 1989. With the winds of change sweeping the globe, the Apartheid government unbanned the ANC in early 1990. This event opened up a new path for SA.

Saturn and Neptune will join again on 20 Feb 2026. Looking back in history it is clear that this cycle is very important in the history of Russia, China and South Africa. A system collapses and another needs to replace it.

All three of these leaders were not only born with Saturn conjunct Neptune but also Pluto sextile this conjunction. This is a powerful generational signature of that time. Ramaphosa has Pluto at 23 Leo, Putin at 22 Leo and Xi Jinping at 21 Leo.

Uranus will connect with Pluto in Putin chart between Jul 2023 and May 2024.

Uranus will connect with Pluto in Xi Jinping chart between June 2023 to April 2024.

Uranus will connect with Pluto in Ramaphosa chart in May 2024.

Uranus is unpredictable and volatile in nature, wanting radical changes. Pluto speaks about power and control. It describes a period of significant change. An implosion of sorts that is irreversible. These 3 leaders are in for a difficult period leading up to the next Saturn Neptune conjunct in 2026. There is no doubt that significant political changes should be expected in Russia, China and SA.

In addition, Pluto connects with Uranus in ANC chart in 2023 describing an implosion of this organisation.

The winds of change are coming and South Africa may once again get caught up in the global winds of change just like in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall when this conjunction last occurred.  

Ramaphosa

Pluto conjunct Mars – April 2021 to Dec 2022

This has been a difficult time for the President. He was given the opportunity to forcefully push through his agenda. Many have been frustrated at how he chose unity in the ANC ahead of what was best for SA.

Key months in this period have been April/May 2021 and then again in Jan/Aug and ending in Dec 2022. He now faces having to resign over his handling of the Phala Phala saga.

Saturn opposes Pluto square Sun – April 2022 to Jan 2023 – this is an indication that his responsibilities need to change. His work is difficult. It is done. What is hidden? Seems like he has a legal case to answer. He will need to take responsibility.

The ANC

The ANC imploded as an organisation in 2016 with Pluto conjunct Sun – the leader/leadership of the ANC. The message was clear – transform or die. The ANC have been unable to successfully renew their organisation.

In 2018 the message was even clearer with Uranus square Uranus – it had to embark on a renewal project and fundamentally change its path/identity and direction.

In 2019 Pluto opposed Neptune and this indicated a real battle within the organisation. Deceptions and lies and hidden agendas. Illicit activities.

Between June 2021 and April 2022 with Uranus conjunct Saturn – the internal battle intensified and there was a real clash of ideas – traditional vs revolutionary.

Between May 2022 to March 2023 with Neptune square Mercury – we are struggling to understand the truth of all the incidents that have transpired. The space is filled with lies and deception. Half-truths. It’s going to be a process to unravel this mess.

We are now headed for a major shake-up in this organisation as it absolutely implodes with Pluto connecting with Uranus – Feb to Dec 2023. The rot needs to be purged for complete renewal. There is no other way. This process is now irreversible. (Jan/Aug/Dec 2023)

South Africa

South Africans are rightly fed up. It is going to be an unstable period going forward but necessary in our journey. Uranus opposes Moon in chart between July 2023 to April 2024. The people have had enough – significant changes ahead. It is up to ordinary people to create the changes in society that they want to see going forward.

We started our democratic journey on 27 April 1994 somewhat miraculously and perhaps somewhat naïvely. In 2023 our democracy will be 29 years old. This is a significant cycle – the Saturn Return. We need to step up and take responsibility individually and collectively as society and hold those in leadership accountable. This is an important period for our Constitutional Democracy and the rule of law. Another chapter in our journey needs to unfold.
