I wanted to represent these cycles graphically to see how these patterns evolve over time. These cycles are very long and go way back in time.
The Saturn Jupiter conjunction is a cycle we can definitely connect with over a life time. It is a 20 year cycle and we are likely to experience 3 if not 4 cycles in a life time. Jupiter is about growth and Saturn about the structure of society. This cycle is about changes in society through growth and new opportunities. What is really fascinating to see if that this cycle moves through the signs and hence the elements over time. Astrology works with 4 elements – fire, earth, air and water. What you will see from the graph below is they spend about 200 years in an element. We have just emerged from an earth cycle and these planets will now converge in the air element.
This pattern was last repeated between 1086 and 1404. Earth element is about status and material wealth. The air element is about ideas and concepts. It will be interesting to watch the development of AI during this period.
The period 1000 to 1200 is regarded as the High Middle Ages and the period 1300 to 1500 that followed is regarded as the Late Middle Ages. It was a time of political, cultural, territorial and economic expansion never seen before. It was also a time of religious and cultural intolerance.
This was followed by the Early Modern Era which included the Renaissance period – 1400 to 1750. The Portuguese explorers were very active in the period 1400 to 1600 – the water element. The Age of Enlightenment followed between 1650 and 1800 – the fire element.
The Modern Era followed from 1750 to the present. The Industrial Revolution and Revolutionary period started this era (1750 to 1850) – the most notable the American and French Revolutions. The Age of Imperialism followed from 1800 to 1915 where France, Britian, Spain, Netherlands and US colonised other nations. WW1, The Great Depression and WW2 followed.
The Contemporary Period started in 1945 and continues into the present. This period is regarded as the Information Age. From 1800 Saturn and Jupiter joined in earth signs and the changeover started in 1980 when they first joined in the air element. From 2020 Saturn and Jupiter will join together in the air element until 2199. All of us currently on this planet will see this cycle to its end!
My reading of the election chart shows a very weak government with lots of problems. This chart indicates that the government is fighting many battles with known and hidden enemies. There are plenty of behind the scenes issues playing out and they are indebted to foreigners financially. At what cost? It looks like a very difficult situation and the government will be indebted to powerful actors. Is this their downfall?
The opposition don’t look strong either but are less weak than the government. It seems like once again there are lots of hidden agendas on all sides. The Moon (the people) in this chart applies to Mercury – the ruler of the opposition. It looks like the opposition benefit more when it comes to the votes of ordinary people especially women and the youth. The opposition may benefit from unusual and or unexpected circumstances. When the polls close at 21h00 the opposition look incredibly strong. The country is at a cross roads and it speaks about a government in crisis especially when it comes to the young people of this country.
We are in for a few surprises. Ordinary South Africans are not happy with the government and it looks like there may well be some significant changes. It certainly indicates that the government will be shocked and could very well loose their majority. The people would have spoken and change is necessary.
South Africa is also navigating its Saturn Return – 30 years since the 1994 democratic elections. It is time to adult up and take responsibility for our economy. Saturn in 2nd house speaks about the economy. We have to look at how we manage the economy going forward as ordinary people are struggling financially and our economy is not growing. We cannot hope to sort out the unemployment issues with stagnant economic growth.
Venus and the Sun connect to the Jupiter Uranus conjunction between 13th and 23rd May. This will be an important time for stocks and trades. Great gains which will certainly become more volatile when Jupiter and Uranus enter the mutable sign of Gemini. Jupiter enters Gemini on 25 May 2024 and remains in this sign until 9 June 2025. Gemini is an air sign and as Jupiter and Uranus move through Gemini, we can expect great strides in AI technology.

Pluto went retrograde on 2 May 2024 at 2 Aquarius and will travel back to 29 Capricorn before changing direction on 12 October 2024. It moves forwards again back into Aquarius on 19 November 2024 moving across 0 degrees Aquarius. Pluto stays in Aquarius until 2043. Jupiter and Saturn joined on 21 December 2020 at 0 Aquarius. This is a powerful degree that will be activated again.
We are going to witness the struggle for power as those in authority hang on to power and ordinary people fight back to regain power and hold those in authority accountable. This battle will intensify between now and the end of the year. The battle for democracy?
Mars moved into Aries on 30 April 2024 – the warrior. Mars is very powerful and reactive in Aries and stays in this sign until 8 June 2024. We need to be mindful of this especially on 11 June as Mars will square Pluto. We could have a stand off. Mars is at 1 Taurus and Pluto at 1 Aquarius. A time of conflict. This is a stubborn Mars. Mars will then oppose Pluto on 3 Nov 2024 – another volatile period of intense conflict with Pluto at 29 Capricorn and Mars at 29 Cancer. As Pluto travels backwards and forwards again we will experience this intense battle. Pluto finally moves into Aquarius crossing 0 degree Aquarius on 19 November 2024. On this day Pluto will activate the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction of 21 December 2020.
It is certainly going to be a difficult year and will be interesting to watch especially as there are so elections taking place in 2024. 64 countries go to the polls in 2024 and this equates to 49% of the global population. It is also going to be important to watch the conflicts in the Middle East between Israel and Gaza and the Russian Ukraine war.
