During this period the Cape Colony extended its eastern border right to the Fish and Bushman’s River by decree of the VOC council (Dutch East India Company). Many armed confrontations between the Dutch and the AmaXhosa ensued. A number of frontier wars raged. There was also much strife within the AmaXhosa community following the death of Phalo. The AmaXhosa split into 2 groupings – followers of his 2 sons – Gcaleka and Rharhabe . Clashes continued between farmers and herders.
Shaka, the future King of the AmaZulu was born in 1787.
War between the Netherlands and England (1780 to 1783) hastened the demise of the VOC (Dutch East India Company). The French stationed troops at the Cape to support the Dutch for a few years. In 1798 the VOC was dissolved. This once powerful company ceased to exist.
As Pluto once again ingresses into Aquarius over the next 2 years it will be interesting to follow the historical journey of SA and the changes that occur. This period will last 20 years until 2044.
