Saturn was last in Aries between April 1996 and March 1999. Saturn is once again in Aries from May 2025 to April 2028.
Saturn is fallen in Aries and describes a struggle. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac – this is an initiating cycle. It certainly wasn’t an easy process birthing our new constitution post the 1994 elections. It describes the important processes involved and this struggle between individual and collective responsibility. Mars is the ruler of Aries and throughout this process Mars opposed Saturn. Both Saturn and Mars are malefics.
South Africa is a constitutional democracy. Nobody is above the Law. It is South Africa’s most important document.
Constitution of SA is the Supreme Law of the Republic of SA.
- Provides the legal framework for the existence of the Republic.
- Sets out the duties of citizens and the human rights of citizens.
- Defines the structure of government.
It was promulgated on 18 Dec 1996 by President Nelson Mandela and came into effect on 4 Feb 1997.
We, the people of South Africa,
Recognise the injustices of our past;
Honour those who suffered for justice and freedom in our land;
Respect those who have worked to build and develop our country; and
Believe that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity.
We therefore, through our freely elected representatives, adopt this Constitution as the supreme law of the Republic so as to –
Heal the divisions of the past and establish a society based on democratic values, social justice and fundamental human rights;
Lay the foundations for a democratic and open society in which government is based on the will of the people and every citizen is equally protected by law;
Improve the quality of life of all citizens and free the potential of each person; and
Build a united and democratic South Africa able to take its rightful place as a sovereign state in the family of nations.
May God protect our people.
Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika. Morena boloka setjhaba sa heso.
God seën Suid-Afrika. God bless South Africa.
Mudzimu fhatutshedza Afurika. Hosi katekisa Afrika.
Saturn’s lessons are about responsibility and accountability. We need to embody these lessons as individuals and also collectively. It is important that we as individuals hold leaders accountable. Saturn takes time. It is process driven. It speaks about the importance of infrastructure and institutions. It is the framework of society. It holds things together. And in Aries it manages this tension between the individual and the collective.
With Saturn moving into Aries again, we need to reflect on our Constitution and set to work meeting the long-term objectives of what was imagined at the start of this process in 1994. I think it is safe to say we have not yet succeeded and there is much work that still needs to be done. But the one thing we should avoid, is trampling on this most important document. It still holds the key to SA reaching its full potential.
