The protests started in Tunisia and spread to Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Syria and Bahrain. Rulers were deposed in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt in 2011 and Yemen in 2012. This Jupiter Uranus conjunction was active between May 2010 and Feb 2011 and was exact on the 8 June, 19 September 2010 and 4 Jan 2011. Sustained street demonstrations also took place in Morocco, Iraq, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman and Sudan. Minor protests took place in Djibouti, Mauritania, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and the Moroccan occupied Western Sahara.
The protests were ignited by poverty and inflation and a response to political corruption, authoritarianism and human rights violations. The goals were economic freedoms, human rights, social reforms and regime change. The methods of civil disobedience quickly spread via social media and internet activism. This was a new kind of revolution. Uranus is associated with social crisis, revolution, refugees and innovative technology. Jupiter magnifies the crisis.

This Jupiter Uranus conjunction was active in 1914, 1927/28, 1941, 1954/55, 1968/69, 1983, 1997 and 2010/2011. This is certainly a volatile period and ripe for social unrest and change especially in repressive situations.
